Utah picked up a commitment from 6-foot-4 junior college wideout Deniko Carter on Saturday, helping to restock Utah's receiving corps after the losses of seniors Dres Anderson and Kaelin Clay.

Carter, a 6-foot-4 sophomore, graduated from Baltimore's Catsonville High in 2012 and has two years of eligibility remaining. He first suited up for Dean College in Massachusetts in 2012 and redshirted in 2013 at Gavilan College, in Gilroy, Calif., before playing this season and catching 50 passes for 796 yards and six touchdowns in nine games.

"Deniko is truly a great competitor," said Gavilan head coach Spencer Gilford. "He likes to win every chance he can get — every rep and every play."

Gilford said Gavilan coaches clocked Carter at "mid- to upper-4.3" in the 40-yard dash last year.

Carter, whose commitment doesn't come as a great surprise (see tweet at left), apparently sealed the deal on his official visit to Salt Lake City. The Tribune will try to catch up with Carter when his visit is over.
