Utah State senior Zach Vigil continued to haul in the post-season honors Monday as he was named a third-team All-American by Phil Steele and an honorable mention All-American by SI.com.

Earlier, Vigil was named a second-team All-American by USA Today Sports and a fourth-team All-American by Athlon Sports.

Vigil was also named the Defensive MVP of the New Mexico Bowl after the Aggies beat UTEP 21-6 and was the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year.

The senior from Clearfield finished his career with 387 tackles, moving him into fifth-place all-time in school history.

He had 154 tackles as a senior, including 19.5 tackles for loss and nine sacks. He also had four pass breakups and an interception.

Vigil was also among those who earned first-team all-Mountain West honors by Phil Steele. He was joined on the first team by senior defensive end B.J. Larsen, punt returner JoJo Natson, safety Frankie Sutera, linebacker Nick Vigil and offensive lineman Kevin Whimpey.

Receiver Hunter Sharp was named to the second team and placekicker Nick Diaz, defensive end Jordan Nielsen, sophomore Austin Stephens and safety Brian Suite were named to the third team.
