Police arrested a teenage male after he allegedly brandished a handgun at a FrontRunner train station in Roy.

Public safety dispatchers say the 911 call came in at 6:21 p.m. Thursday. Officers found the boy near the station, 4155 S. Sandridge Drive (2500 West), but he fled when approached.

Roy police Detective Matt Gwynn said officers, aided by Weber County sheriff's deputies and other area law enforcement agencies, set up a containment area. Residents in homes east of the station were warned by emergency notification calls to shelter in place.

A sheriff's police dog located the teen shortly before 9 p.m. and he surrendered.

The 17-year-old suspect, whose name was not released due to his juvenile status, was taken in custody.

The youth was booked into a juvenile detention facility pending charges.

It was not immediately known where the youth had obtained the firearm — which was recovered — or what his intentions may have been, Gwynn said.
