Election results from Salt Lake County came to a standstill Tuesday evening as a server crashed in the County Clerk's Office.

While officials could not post totals to the county website, the computer problmes did not delay vote counting, election workers said.

Officials said they would have totals available online by midnight, and numbers began to appear once more on the county website at about 10:30 p.m. If the server crashes again, it could delay online posting again.

The county's website was working, but the elections site was not functional for more than two hours after polls closed.

Lt. Gov. Spencer Cox, who oversees elections, encouraged patience to his Twitter followers.

"For whatever reason, counties have been slower in getting us their data this cycle. Hang in there!" Cox tweeted at 9:40 p.m. Weber and Utah counties did not begin reporting numbers until around 9 p.m.
