West Jordan police have identified Antonio Vigil as the pedestrian who died after being hit by a car Thursday night.

The 65-year-old man was struck by an eastbound car near 2400 W. 7800 South, about 7 p.m. Thursday, said West Jordan police Officer Ian Adams.

Vigil was taken to the hospital, but later died, Adams said.

Investigators found that Vigil had tried crossing 7800 South in a dark spot, outside of a crosswalk, said police Sgt. Dan Roberts. Officers are not planning on pursuing any charges against the driver, Roberts said.
