The Utah State Aggies can only hope their game plan for Hawaii is better than their travel plans were.

The Aggies, who flew out Thursday, were rerouted through Seattle and then Los Angeles after their original flight from Salt Lake City was canceled.

Similarly, the Aggies' offense has had plenty of starts and stops this season, and injuries have taken their toll.

But the Aggies are certain they can maintain enough of a flow to get a win at Hawaii.

Kent Myers, a freshman from Rowlett, Texas, will be starting at quarterback, since Craig Harrison has joined Darell Garretson and Chuckie Keeton on the injured list.

Myers will be making his first start, but at least has some experience. He finished the Aggies' win over UNLV after Harrison injured his knee in the second half.

Like Garretson and Harrison, Myers doesn't need to win the game for the Aggies — he only needs to not lose it, said coach Matt Wells.

"He just has to distribute the ball, do what we need to do," he said. "We need to find a way to run it. Our wideouts have to play really, really good, and we need to keep playing championship defense."

The Aggies had similar adversity the last time they played at Hawaii. In 2011, the Aggies trailed the Warriors 28-7 and lost Keeton in the first half with a neck injury.

The Aggies rallied behind quarterback Adam Kennedy and took a 35-31 win.

That game deserves some of the credit for the way the Aggies have played the past few seasons, Wells said.

"To go back there and play will bring good memories," he said. "It won't help us one bit this year to win this game, but it absolutely was the place where this program turned at halftime of that game. I think this program has been on a roll ever since."

Hawaii has an improved defense, thanks to the presence of Kevin Clune, who served as the Aggies' linebackers coach from 2009-13 and is now Hawaii's defensive coordinator.

Facing him will be a little odd, tight end Jefferson Court said, but the Aggies are confident they can handle the challenge.

"It's going to be a hard game," he said. "We're going to have to play our best, and we have to run the ball hard."
