Well illustrated with maps and color photos, the book suggests driving tours in Utah's West Desert, northern Utah, northeastern Utah, southwestern Utah, southcentral Utah and southeastern Utah. The emphasis, as the title suggests, is on backroads tours of ghost towns, historical sites, scenic byways and scenery. Colored maps with suggested routes are particularly helpful to those exploring Utah. The color photos give those considering a drive a sense of place, and there are some good sidebars such as "Safety in Desert Country" or "Orderville Tries the Communal Lifestyle."
