Letters must include the signature, full name, address, phone number and email address (if available) of the author for verification purposes. Only the name and city will be published. Letters should be no longer than 200 words. Concise letters developing a single theme are more likely to be published. For printed submissions, please type and double space throughout. Letters are condensed and edited. Because of the volume of mail received, not all submissions are published.

Where do I find a past edition or older story?
Try using the search box at the top of any page. Note that stories may have differnet headlines than appeared in print, so use keywords or names for the best results. You can also browse news posted to the site in the last 24 hours on our contents page. This does not correspond in any way to the contents of the print edition. For an exact replica of the print edition, subscribe to our E-edition online.

Can I copy or use a story or photo from your site?
All content on our site is copyright The Salt Lake Tribune and associated news services. No material may be reproduced or reused without explicit permission. To inqiure about republication, email fitz@sltrib.com. We do welcome links to our stories from other sites.

Can I purchase a print of a photo I have seen in The Tribune?
Prints and republication rights for photos taken by a Salt Lake Tribune staff photographer can usually be purchased. Contact our data center for more details at datacenter@sltrib.com or 801-257-8930.

Where do I find comics, games, puzzles, etc?
The Tribune does not have republication rights for certain content from the print edition. You'll find online exclusive games, puzzles, horoscopes and more in the navigation bar at the top of the page.

How do I comment on stories?
The Tribune requires that users register to post comments. Simply click the "Register" button at the top right of any page on the site. You will be required to give your birthdate to comply with the Children's Online Protection Act. Once it determines you are older than 13 and legally allowed to register, you will choose a username and password, enter a valid email address, your subscription status and any biographical information you wish to include. You will also be presented with the user guidelines and be required to agree to them prior to registering. Within a few minutes after submitting your registration, you'll receive two emails: a confirmation and a verification. The verification email will include a link you must click to complete your registration. Once you have done so, you can revisit the site and log in with your new username.

What if I want to discuss something further or something not related to a story?
The Tribune offers a full range of discussion boards at www.TribTalk.com where we welcome conversation on a variety of subjects. Your comments registration will also work on TribTalk, so no need to register again.

Can I hide story comments?
Yes. Simply click the "Hide Comments" button at the bottom of any story. Your browser will remember this setting on all stories on our site unless and until you decide to view comments again. You do not need to register or log in to hide comments.

How can I report a comment that violates your user agreement?
We rely heavily on reported comments and encourage you to let us know of anything you see that you feel violates our rules. Every reported comment is investigated individually and in context; reported comments are not instantly or automatically removed. To report a comment to us, simply click the "Report Abuse" button on the comment. You must be registered and logged in to report a comment, and you must provide a reason for your report.
