With demand for H1N1 vaccine far exceeding supply, the Salt Lake Valley Health Department will not hold another mass vaccination clinic until it receives a large shipment, about 20,000 doses.

In the meantime, it will push out smaller vaccine shipments to private providers and is offering residents the chance to schedule appointments on Tuesdays, for time slots on Wednesdays-Fridays.

So far, the department has decided these five groups are eligible for the H1N1 vaccine, a guideline private providers will follow in distributing vaccine from the county:

» Pregnant women

» People who live with or care for children younger than 6 months of age

» Health care or emergency medical personnel

» Children age 6 months to 24 years of age

» Those under the age of 64 with chronic medical conditions, such as asthma, that carry a higher risk of complications from influenza.
