Brett Parnham welcomed himself to the Utah Grizzlies by scoring the game-winning goal in overtime Sunday to help Utah (11-4) defeat the Las Vegas Wranglers 3-2 at the E Center. It was Parnham's second goal of the game, both unassisted. He joined the team on Thursday and has scored three goals in three games since coming aboard.

The Wranglers (6-10-1) managed two power play goals but Parnham ended the game just 43 seconds into the sudden-death overtime period.

"Coming in here, it's a little bit nerve-racking," Parnham said of joining the Grizzlies. "It's good to get a couple of goals in the first couple of games."

Parnham found a loose puck at center ice and turned slowly toward Las Vegas's goal. Once he lifted his head and saw that the defense was out of position, he darted up the left side. His slap shot from just inside the blue line bounced off of Las Vegas goalie Michael Ouzas' pads. Two Wrangler defenders failed to clear the puck and Parnham tracked down the rebound and put it away.

"Everybody was caught low," Parnham said. "I saw the puck bounce off one defender's stick and my guy left me."

Las Vegas found its power play attack, going 2-for-7 after going 0-for-7 over the last two games. Ned Lukacevic scored the Wranglers' first goal just over five minutes into the game, giving Las Vegas a 1-0 lead after the first period.

second with Tim Maxwell putting home a power play goal and Parnham scoring shorthanded.

Parnham recovered a loose puck at center ice and led a 2-on-1 Grizzlies break before netting the puck in the top-right corner. But Mike Madill scored another Las Vegas power play goal six minutes later and, after a scoreless third period, the teams took the ice for overtime. Parnham took care of the rest.

Parnham, a 20-year-old from Orilla, Ontario, played for the Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey League last season, when he was second in the league in goals (50) and power-play goals.
