'Soiree of the Arts'
Friday at Panache
Panache Restaurant, on the second floor of the Wells Fargo Building, 299 S. Main St., Salt Lake City, will hold its spring "Soiree of the Arts" Friday from 6:30 to 10 p.m. The evening includes a display by artist Ray Morales, live music by Harry Lee and the Back Alley Blues Band and a gourmet seven-course meal that includes lobster and foie gras hand rolls, grilled Arctic char and seared lamb tenderloin.

Hurry up and register for slow-food benefit at Alta
Today is the last day to register for the "Spring Lunch on the Mountain," a benefit for Slow Food Utah and Bad Dog Rediscovers America. The benefit will take place Sunday at the Alta Ski Resort. Participants can ski all day and at 2 p.m. enjoy a three-course gourmet lunch at the Collins Grill, located in Watson's Shelter, adjacent to the angle station on Alta's Collins chairlift. Cost is $90. Wine pairings are an additional $10. Tickets may be purchased online at slowfoodutah.org. Tickets will not be mailed. Savor a taste of Italy in class at Italian center
Get a taste of Italy during the "Italy in Salt Lake City" course offered through the University of Utah's Lifelong Learning program. The class is April 4 at 6 p.m. at the Italian Center of the West, 314 W. Broadway (300 South). Cost is $47 per person.
The class is taught by Braden Knutson, who lived in Sicily for two years and speaks fluent Italian. He will offer information about Italian shops, services, markets, and restaurants in Utah. The two-hour course includes a visit to Tony Caputo's Market and Deli for a sampling of Italian foods. Participants also will play bocce if weather permits. To register, call 801-587-5433.
