Looking to feast on Valentine's Day? Choices abound

If romance is on your mind, then it's time to begin thinking about what to get your loved one this Valentine's Day. Whether it's flowers, chocolates, lingerie, dinner or all of the above, you'll get points for planning ahead. Here are just a few restaurants along the Wasatch Front to help you with the dinner part.

Salt Lake City

Boulevard, 2335 E. Murray-Holladay Road, Holladay; 801-274-6999. Offering a four-course menu ($65, $125 per couple) with items such as braised buffalo short ribs, Gorgonzola cheese croquette, stuffed quail, beef tenderloin, black cod and chocolate dessert trio. Optional wine pairing ($35 per person). Open 5 to 11 p.m. Reservations are strongly recommended.

Em's, 271 N. Center St., Salt Lake City; 801-596-0566. Serving from regular menu with Valentine's Day specials such as shrimp-stuffed ravioli with cognac cream sauce, Boulder Mountain beef tenderloin with green peppercorn sauce, and scallops with curry aioli. Open 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Reservations are recommended.

Faustina, 454 E. 300 South, Salt Lake City; 801-746-4441. Offering a four-course Valentine's Day menu ($55) with selections such as smoked salmon parfait, beef tenderloin, lobster-filled ravioli with tomato saffron broth, pan-roasted butterfish, chocolate bento box and poached pear duet. Open 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Seatings at 5 p.m., 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Reservations are strongly recommended.

Franck's, 6263 S. Holladay Blvd., Holladay; 801-274-6263. Serving from regular menu with Valentine's Day specials. Open 5:30 to 9 p.m. Reservations are required.

Fresco Italian Cafe, 1513 S. 1500 East, Salt Lake City; 801-486-1300. A limited menu - four appetizers, five entrees, salads and desserts - will be served Feb. 13 and Valentine's Day. Open 5 to 10 p.m. Reservations are required.

La Caille, 9565 Wasatch Blvd., Sandy; 801-942-1751. Serving from regular menu. Open 5 to 10 p.m. Reservations are strongly recommended.

Log Haven, 6451 E. Millcreek Canyon, Salt Lake City; 801-272-8255. Serving from regular menu along with Valentine's made-to-share entree and dessert. Open 5:30 to 9 p.m. Reservations are strongly recommended.

Lugano, 3364 S. 2300 East, Salt Lake City; 801-412-9994. Offering a four-course Venetian-inspired menu ($48), with items such as black squid-ink pasta with crab and oven-roasted wild mushrooms with polenta, will be served Feb. 13 and Valentine's Day. Optional wine pairing ($25 per person for three courses, $35 for four courses). Open 5 to 10 p.m. Reservations are recommended.

Martine, 22 E. 100 South, Salt Lake City; 801-363-9328. Serving from regular menu. Open 5 to 10 p.m. Reservations are strongly recommended.

Metropolitan, 173 W. Broadway (300 South), Salt Lake City; 801-364-3472. Offering a six-course menu ($75) with dishes such as watercress soup, soba noodle salad, rabbit en croute, beef tenderloin rouladen, purple potato gnocchi, turtle sundae and carrot cake. Optional five-course wine pairing ($50). Special flower bouquets ($65) can await guests at their reserved table. Open 5:30 to about 10 p.m. Reservations are strongly recommended.

The Paris Bistro & Zinc Bar, 1500 E. 1500 South, Salt Lake City; 801-486-5585. Offering a four-course option ($59.95) and a 6-course option ($79.95). Open 5 to 10 p.m.

Pine, 4760 S. 900 East, Murray; 801-288-2211. Offering a four-course Pacific Northwest tasting menu ($48) with dishes such as potato and fresh herb gnocchi, house-cured smoked salmon and Petrale sole with lemon caper butter sauce. Optional wine pairing ($25 per person for three courses, $35 for four courses). Open 5 to 10 p.m. Reservations are recommended.

Tuscany, 2832 E. 6200 South, Holladay; 801-277-9919. Serving regular menu with Valentine's Day specials. Open 5 to 9:45 p.m. Reservations are required.

Tiburon Fine Dining, 8256 S. 700 East, Sandy; 801-255-1200. Serving from regular menu with specials such as pan-seared beef tenderloin and foie gras ($38), lobster tail and prawns ($45) and American Kobe rib-eye steak ($62). Open 5 to about 10 p.m. Reservations are recommended. Although the restaurant is no longer taking reservations for Valentine's Day, the menu and specials will be offered Feb. 9 to Feb. 18.

Vienna Bistro, 132 S. Main St., Salt Lake City; 801-322-0334. Offering a four-course Valentine's Day menu ($80 per couple) with selections such as baked brie with lingonberries, consommé with crepes, roasted leg of lamb, cornish game hen and a raspberry crème puff. Offering 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. seatings. Reservations are required. The restaurant will donate $5 from each meal served to the American Heart Association. Additional donations are welcome.

Ogden, Logan

Jasoh, 4590 S. Harrison Blvd., Ogden; 801-399-0088. Serving a four-course Valentine's Day menu. Each female will also receive a gift. Open from 5 to 9 p.m. Reservations are required along with a $10 per person credit-card deposit to be used toward the price of the meal.

Le Nonne Ristorante, 129 N. 100 East, Logan; 435-752-9577. Serving from regular menu. Open 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Reservations are recommended.

Provo, Orem

Chef's Table, 2005 State St., Orem; 801-235-9111. Valentine's Day menu will highlight the best of 2006's seasonal menus plus specials. Open 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., 5 to 10 p.m. Reservations are required. Valentine's Day dinner menu is available Valentine's Day to Feb. 17.

The Foundry Grill, Sundance Resort, 801-223-4567, day of at 801-223-4220. Serving from regular menu and a "couple's special" four-course menu ($125 per couple) with selections such as shrimp cocktail, roasted pear salad, filet mignon and crab-stuffed shrimp, eggplant-stuffed ravioli, blackened Atlantic salmon, chocolate decadence cake and apple pie. Dinner includes a bottle of sparkling apple cider or Valentine's Day drink and a gift for female guests. Reservations are required.

Ottavio's Ristorante, 69 E. Center St., Provo; 801-377-9555. Special Valentine's Day buffet in addition to several special entrees. Open 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., 5 to 10 p.m. Reservations are recommended.

Tree Room, Sundance Resort, 801-223-4567, day of at 801-223-4200. Offering a five-course menu ($90) with selections such as seared ahi tuna, mushroom bisque, poached lobster, dry-aged New York strip and passion fruit crème tart. Reservations are required.

Park City area

Chenez, 710 Lower Main St. (Marriott Summit Watch Plaza), Park City; 435-940-1909. Serving regular five-course menu ($100) with selections such as steak tartare, coquilles St. Jacques, veal Oscar, soufflés for two and crème caramel. Cost does not include wine, service charge and tax. Open 5 to about 9:30 p.m. Reservations are required and must be guaranteed with a credit card.

Chez Betty, 1637 Short Line Road, Park City; 435-649-8181. Serving from regular menu with some Valentine's Day specials. Open 5:30 to 9:45 p.m. Reservations are required.

Blue Boar Inn & Restaurant, 1235 Warm Springs Road, Midway; 888-650-1400. Offering a four-course menu ($75) with selections such as oysters three ways, peppered wild boar sirloin, lobster strudel, wild mushrooms in puff pastry, twice-baked Canadian lobster tail, beef tenderloin au poivre, honey-glazed rack of lamb, garlic and herb-roasted Cornish game hen, rolled asparagus lasagna, passion fruit crème br~lée, chocolate fondue and pear frangipane tart. Open 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Reservations are required and must be guaranteed with a credit card. There is a 48-hour cancellation policy or $25 per person will be charged to the credit card.
