Ever wonder if you're missing out on the newest wine, cocktail or micro-brewed beer? In this column, we ask a Utah expert for a recommendation. This week we talked to:
Paul Brown » Manager at Wasatch Brew Pub, 250 Main St., Park City; 435-649-0900
Q. What are you drinking now?
A. Wasatch Winterfest Ale
Why do you like it?
This seasonal, dark amber beer is brewed at full strength (7.1 percent alcohol by volume). It has a full body with a nice balance between hoppiness and malt.
What makes the beer interesting?
Despite it's high alcohol content, it is still crisp with carbonation. And, the alcohol is offset by the sweetness of the beer.
Cost?
A 12-ounce bottle is $5.50 each at Wasatch Brew Pub in Park City, Utah State liquor stores and at the brewery store at 1763 S. 300 West in Salt Lake City.
Best food to pair with?
Hamburgers, braised short ribs or pork stew.
