Dining notes: Bayleaf open early and late

Whether you need comfort food early or late, the new Bayleaf Café, at 159 S. Main St., in Salt Lake City will be open. The new restaurant, formerly Incantation, has a menu of international favorites from omelets and Asian congee (rice porridge) to hamburgers, meatloaf, empanadas and hopping John. It's also affordable. Most meals cost between $7 and $9. The Bayleaf is open Monday to Thursday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. On the weekends, it is open 24 hours, from 6 a.m. Friday to 6 p.m. Sunday. Cupcakery opens in Layton

Cutsie Cakes opened recently at 354 N. Main St., in Layton. The "cupcakery" and boutique makes more than two dozen different flavors of mini cakes from Boston cream and caramel spice to a seasonal huckleberry bliss. Dinner from India

A three-course gourmet meal featuring the foods of India will be Sept. 12 at the Rikka Event Center, 1526 Ute Blvd., in Kimball Junction. Cost is $50 per person. Reservations required before Sept. 9. Call 801-750-2398 or 435-649-6445.
