Twenty-six Utah restaurants are participating in "The Utah Tap Project," a national UNICEF fundraiser that brings safe drinking water to children worldwide. Now through March 28, visit a participating restaurant and donate $1 or more for the water you normally drink for free. Utahns also can text "TAP" to "UNICEF" (864233) to make a $5 donation, or donate online at tapproject.org Every dollar raised will provide 40 children with clean drinking water for a day.

Organic eggs » Speaking of eggs, the Fassio Egg Farm in Erda recently became certified organic -- making it Utah's first large-scale organic egg producer. The flock lives cage-free and is fed a vegetarian diet with no added hormones or antibiotics. The brown eggs, which are high in heart-healthy Omega 3s, are sold under the "Rocky Mountain Eggs" brand. They are available on a limited basis at Reams and the Fassio Egg Farms Drive Up Window, 3664 S. 5200 West, West Valley City. But look for them soon at Albertson's and Sunflower Market.
One stylin' cottage » Cedar City's Garden Cottage Bed and Breakfast Inn -- and its lush, English-style garden -- are featured in the latest issue of Cottage Style. Innkeepers Diana and Gary Simkins bought the former fraternity house at 16 N 200 West, 25 years ago. Back then, the small lot -- just 66 feet across and 115 feet deep -- was practically barren. But today it is densely planted with roses, Hollyhocks, lilies, larkspur, alyssum and more. Passersby often stop to take photographs. "It captures the essence of a casual, carefree cottage garden," said editor Janet Mowat. We knew that our readers would value hearing tips about how to make such a garden grow, especially from real-life gardeners who, like most, have jobs to squeeze in between planting, weeding and watering."
