Food briefs: Food Network highlights Utah Chocolate company

Utah's Amano Artisan Chocolate -- and its turn-of-the-century chocolate-making equipment -- can be seen during a Feb. 9 episode of "Unwrapped" on The Food Network. The television show, entitled "Chocoholics," will air at 7 p.m. and takes viewers on a behind the scenes look at U.S. chocolate factories.

Harmons annual PTA day will be Feb. 10

The 20th annual PTA Day at Harmons Grocery Stores will be Feb. 10. Harmons will donate 5 percent of the net sales on that day to 65 Utah schools. School children also have until Feb. 13 to nominate their favorite teacher for a special Valentine's day award. Each Harmon's store will deliver an arrangement of roses to a winning teacher on Feb. 14.

Learn how to turn your favorite homemade recipe into a viable food business during the Feb. 18 workshop, "From Kitchen to Market: How to Sell your Specialty Food." Stephen Hall, president of Food Marketing International, and Tim Sullivan, a specialty food expert from California, are the guest speakers. The workshop runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Salt Lake Community College's Miller Free Enterprise Center, 9750 S. 300 West, Sandy. Cost is $100 per person in advance and $125 at the door. Chamber recognizes two small businesses

Two favorite food-related business in Utah were recently honored by The Salt Lake Chamber. The Mandarin Restaurant, a favorite spot for Chinese food in Bountiful, was named the "Small Business of the Year." Manuel's Fine Food, which opened in 1938, received the "Minority Small Business" award.
