Dining notes: Meditrina now open in Salt Lake City

Meditrina, a small plates and wine bar, opened recently at 1394 S. West Temple, Salt Lake City. Lunch is available from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dinner is served Monday through Thursday from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. and on Friday and Saturday until 10:30 p.m. Small-plate specialties include mushroom and brie over toast points, flank steak and asparagus stack and lollipop lamb chops. Most small plates cost between $7 and $10. Shepherd's pie, the house entree, is $9. Call 801-485-2055.

Happy birthday

Les Madeleines Patisserie Café, 216 E. 500 South, Salt Lake City, is celebrating its fifth anniversary this month. Owner Romina Rasmussen is offering a different "birthday bite" menu each week that includes sweet and savory items. On Dec. 15, all customers get a free mini-birthday cupcake. Call 801-355-2294.

Welcome back, Pierre

Pierre Country Bakery and Cafe at 3239 E. 3300 South reopened last week, with previous owner Marsha Smith returning to the helm. Smith had sold the bakery earlier this year, but new the management was unsuccessful. The bakery is open Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Saturday 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
