It looks simple enough » An unassuming bun ($3.25), slightly glistening with sugar. Texturally, it's a cross between a muffin and a sticky bun, with a yeasty give against the teeth and a nice buttery flakiness. But the flavor is the most enticing component. Ground cinnamon radiates a welcoming quality, especially in cold weather, and a touch of orange adds a bright contrast. Pair that with a cappuccino -- Tulie's baristas make fine ones -- and take a seat at one of two wooden, communal tables for some quiet time.

Tulie Bakery & Cafe is at 863 E. 700 South, Salt Lake City; 801-883-9741.

Hours are Tuesday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Sunday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
