Posted: 9:36 AM- BEIJING - Matt Brown hasn't had much luck at the plate for the U.S. baseball team at the Beijing Olympics, but the Salt Lake Bees star came through when it mattered Wednesday.
Locked in a scoreless game with Japan in the final preliminary group game, Brown knocked in one of four runs with an RBI single in the top of the 11th inning to lead the Americans to a 4-2 victory at the Wukesong Baseball Field.
The victory gave the Americans the third seed in the standings, and a date with Cuba in the semifinals rather than unbeaten South Korea.
