Tucker Kern, Salt Lake City: Tucker, a senior at West High, was fishing for tarpon with his dad, John, near Everglades National Park in April. An unusual cold front moved the fish, and things looked grim until Tucker hooked into this permit. With only a 10-pound test fishing line and a light rod, the guide ended up chasing the fish with the boat. Once landed, the scale, which went to 30 pounds, topped out. The guide thinks the fish hit 35 pounds.
