Recent storms caused major damage to the access trail to Rainbow Bridge National Monument, prompting a closure that makes access to the world's largest known natural bridge impossible from Lake Powell.

Lake Powell Resorts & Marinas wins award
Lake Powell Resorts & Marinas recycled 917,509 pounds of aluminum and cardboard waste in 2005, resulting in an award from the Utah Pollution Prevention Association and the Utah Department of Environmental Quality.

Geology of the Wasatch

William Parry, a University of Utah professor emeritus of geology and author of A Hiking Guide to the Geology of the Wasatch Mountains, will give a free presentation Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Salt Lake REI store, 3285 E. 3300 South, East Millcreek. The presentation will focus on the geologic history of mountain-building events and rocks that form the Wasatch Mountains.

Appreciation Days
Donate a can of food for the Utah Food Bank and receive a free tram ride as part of Snowbird Customer Appreciation Days this Saturday and Sunday and Oct. 21-22, weather permitting. In lieu of food, a $2 donation may be made for a Tram ride, with proceeds benefiting Wasatch Adaptive Sports program.
The Tram will be open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. both weekends. Bring food to the front entrance of the Snowbird Center, through Snowbird Entry 2. Cash donations will be accepted at the Snowbird Center ticket office.
