WESTCLIFFE, Colo. - A member of a breakaway Mormon sect says the group is likely practicing polygamy on some of the properties it owns in Colorado.
The Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is believed to own up to eight properties in the state.
Asked by KCNC-TV whether the group was practicing polygamy in Colorado, FLDS member Lee Steed said, "Absolutely, I think so."
Steed lives in Fremont County. He says he has one wife.
The station interviewed him at an FLDS compound in Westcliffe, 100 miles south of Denver. KCNC says the compound was set up for widows and older women and has 20 or 30 residents.
FLDS leader Warren Jeffs was convicted in Utah as an accomplice to rape for arranging the marriage of an underage girl.
