The Matsiko Children's Choir, featuring young Ugandan singers will perform two concerts Aug. 3. Westminster College and the Utah 3R's (Right, Responsibility, Respect) Project will host a conference on religious liberty, public education and the future of American democracy Aug. 4-6 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Westminster's Bill and Vive Gore Auditorium, 1840 S. 1300 East, Salt Lake City. Join internationally acclaimed experts as they discuss practical strategies for teaching religious liberty and its natural role in education. Featured speakers are Charles Haynes, a senior scholar at the First Amendment Center; Oliver "Buzz" Thomas, a Baptist minster and attorney who was involved in First Amendment litigation in state and federal courts; W. Cole Durham, a Harvard Law School graduate who is heavily involved in comparative law scholarship with a special emphasis on comparative constitutional law and church-state relations.

The 10th Annual Mormon Apologetics Conference, sponsored by FAIR, is Aug. 7 and 8 at the South Towne Expo Center, 9575 S. State St., Sandy. The main discussion will be on Mitt Romney's failed presidential bid. The organization started as an Internet conversation from around the country about how to best defend the LDS Church from its critics about LDS philosophy and history, including polygamy and the role of women in the church, homosexuality and problems with the historicity of the Book of Mormon.
