After a long, long delay, NBC premieres "Emerald City" tonight (8 and 9 p.m., Ch. 5).

In this re-imagined "Wizard of Oz," Dorothy is an adult; Toto is a police dog; and Oz itself is a tribal, gritty world with magic elements.

Intentionally or not, it looks a feels a whole lot like "Game of Thrones."

This is not a show for young children. They'd probably be bored, anyway. I've seen most of the 10 hours, and some of it is tough to get through … just because I'm bored, too.

But parts of it are pretty great. And, again, it is a total of only 10 hours.
