The baseball season nears and end and basketball season begins tonight.

It's Game 1 of the 2016 World Series (6 p.m., Fox/Ch. 13), and — in case you haven't heard — the Chicago Cubs haven't been to the World Series since 1945. They haven't won one since 1908. So lots of folks — not just those in Illinois — are rooting for the Cubs.

Except for the folks in Cleveland, who are pulling for the Indians. And, if it weren't for the Cubs, we'd be talking about how the Indians haven't been to a World Series since 1997 and have won one since 1948.

This should be interesting.

Also tonight, the 2016-17 NBA season tips off, and the Utah Jazz are in Portland to take on the Trail Blazers (8 p.m., ROOT).
