The big question is — why? Maddie has been written as such an incredibly unpleasant, ungrateful brat Rayna and Deacon (Charles Esten) are well rid of her. The writing on this particularly plotlines has been particularly weak — both predictable and hugely annoying.

This show is on the bubble to be renewed for next season. If this is the best the writers can do, there's no reason to bring it back.
