One of the great things about TV is the variety it affords viewers. As clearly demonstrated tonight.

On KUED, we've got "Nova" (8 p.m., PBS/Ch. 7) and an examination of how Albert Einstein developed the theory of general relativity, which reshaped the understanding of gravity, space and time.

On KSTU, we've got "Empire" (8 p.m., Fox/Ch. 13) and Cookie and Candace recruit an ex-con to help them rescue their sister.

It's hard to imagine two shows less alike.

Elsewhere on TV ...

"Survivor Cambodia: Second Chance" (7 p.m., CBS/Ch. 2): The contestants' spirits are drowning in a relentless rain storm; the voting-block strategy continues to keep Castaways on their toes. (Two-hour episode)

Men's college basketball: Mississippi Valley State at BYU (7 p.m., BYUtv)
