It's the debut of "The Daily Show with Trevor Noah" (9 p.m., MTV2, Nick, Spike and VH1 Classic; midnight, Comedy Central, MTV, Spike, TV Land, VH1) — and the pressure is on.

Personally, I think he could pulls this off. I got a chance to see Noah perform his standup act a few weeks ago and participate in a question-and-answer session with him at the Television Critics Association press tour. He's smart, funny and seems well suited to this gig.

But I'm somewhat concerned that "The Daily Show" was so identified with Jon Stewart that it will be difficult for Noah to step out of his shadow.

I'm going to give him a chance. You should, too.
