Last day for Thomas the Tank Engine's visit

Today is the final day the Heber Valley Railroad will play host to Thomas the Tank Engine, who has been in town this weekend for the "Day Out With Thomas 2008: The Great Discovery Tour."

The tour, now in its 13th year, will stop in more than 45 U.S. cities, and anticipates more than 1 million people will ride Thomas, star of the "Thomas & Friends" TV series.

Preschoolers and their families may ride Thomas on a trek outside Heber City for about 25 minutes. They also may meet Sir Topham Hat, controller of the railway, as well as other television characters. They can participate in activities including arts and crafts, storytelling, a hay-bale maze, a bounce house and more.

Trains depart every 45 minutes from 9:45 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. today. Tickets are $18 for ages 2 and older. Groups with 25 or more receive a discounted price of $14 a person. Tickets can be purchased from the Heber Valley Railroad at (801) 581-9980, (435) 654-5601 or at the gate.
