Slip-sliding away on 'Dancing With Stars'

One of the reasons watching "Dancing With the Stars" is so much fun is that you never know what those amateurs are going to do - for example, Mark Cuban dancing like "a bulldog chasing a squirrel," as one judge put it. But during this week's competition, it was a professional dancer - former Utahn Derek Hough - who looked doggone silly. Hough and partner Jennie Garth (an alum of "Beverly Hills 90210") were midway through their quick step when he tripped over her dress and caused both of them to tumble to the ground. She cried, he took it in stride, and viewers gave them a break to let them dance another day.

Fanny strangler: So much for Utah charm

Uh-oh. Things got so tense on "Survivor: China" that Utah's own Todd Herzog became riled when he overheard two other contestants scheming to get him and a female teammate booted from the game. "I'll strangle his ass," the Pleasant Grove flight attendant said about one of the schemers. So much for Utah charm. Later in last week's episode, Herzog luckily got to sit out a challenge in which team members wrestled on top of wooden platforms and beams. Since he has the frame of a chipmunk, he would have flown off the platform if someone blew on him (which would be so appropriate given his occupation).

The 5 Browns: They can play a rainbow

The 5 Browns, Utah's own quintet of piano-playing prodigies, have a new CD called "Browns in Blue" with 16 selections falling within the "romantic and emotional spectrum" of blue. The pieces range from Gershwin's "Home Blues" from "An American in Paris" to "Aunt Hagar's Blues" by W.C. Handy and boast collaborations with violinist Gil Shaham and trumpeter Chris Botti.

Oddly enough, Bon Jovi is quoted in the liner notes: "The blues are all about emotion and when you wrap your arms around it you make it a little more sad than glorious."
