Amid the crowds of tweens and Sanjaya-inspired pony-tail-mohawks, there were many people you wouldn't expect to see at an "American Idol" concert: Middle-aged fans without children or grandchildren to pose as their reason for being there. There was the 60-something woman in the bejeweled, crushed velvet jumper; the man with coke-bottle glasses dancing with only his arms and the mother who couldn't get her daughter to hold up their "Chris is da bomb" sign.

All top 10 "Idol" finalists - Jordin Sparks, Blake Lewis, Phil Stacey, Sanjaya Malakar, Melinda Doolittle, Chris Sligh, Haley Scarnato, Gina Glocksen, LaKisha Jones and Chris Richardson - opened the show with "Let's Get It Started" by the Black Eyed Peas, followed by a quick shout-out from Blake to his local family members in the audience. LaKisha, Melinda and Chris Richardson performed an oldies medley of "Baby Love," "Stop In the Name of Love" and "I Heard It Through the Grapevine."

Each idol performed at least one solo, including Haley's "When God Fearin' Women Get the Blues" and Sanjaya's "The Way You Make Me Feel," complete with moon-walking and twirling. But the performances that really got the audience on their feet were Blake's famous beat-boxing rendition of "Shot Through the Heart," LaKisha's high-note-hitting "I Will Always Love You," Jordin's "Broken Wing" and Melinda's "You Make Me Feel Like a Natural Woman," which she dedicated to the crowd.

The boys created the first ever "Idol Band," with Phil on keyboard, Chris Richardson on drums, Blake and Chris Sligh on guitars and Sanjaya dutifully shaking his tambourine, except for the 15 seconds he played guitar.

The volume level was what you would expect at a concert, but the music quality sounded a little tinny, a little - to quote "Idol" judge Randy Jackson - pitchy. All in all the idols put on a good show, crowd pleasing, simple and fun.
