''Deadwood'' co-star John Hawkes is hanging his hat at HBO again, signing on to ''East Bound and Down,'' a comedy pilot produced by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay.
The show centers on a former pro baseball pitcher (Danny McBride, ''Hot Rod'') who returns to his hometown after his career ends. The only job available to him is as a substitute gym teacher at his old high school.
Hawkes played Sol Star on ''Deadwood.'' He is in the upcoming ''American Gangster.''
