From my fan mail:
l "Don't hate on the pretty girl just 'cause she is trying to make some money off her looks."
l "I'm proud that a native of Price is Miss February. This isn't the worst thing we could be known for."
l "I remember her being somewhat shy but always beautiful. You should check your ego at the door and issue an apology to someone who has gone on to bigger and better things."
I also heard from Lynn herself, who wants to clear up some confusion about where in Utah she went to school, among other things. Fair enough:
Lynn was born in Price but as a girl lived mostly in Huntington and Ferron, both in Emery County. Classmates will remember her as Cassandra Jensen (Lynn is her middle name). She attended Canyon View Junior High in Huntington, then briefly went to Carbon High in Price before moving with her mother to the Salt Lake Valley.
Cassandra attended West Jordan High for a year and Copper Hills High for a year, then moved to Cedar City, where she graduated from Cedar High in 1997. At 18 she headed to Southern California, where she opened a tanning salon and launched a bikini-modeling career.
"I always knew that California was where I wanted to be," says Lynn, now 26. She says her family in Utah supports her decision to appear nude in Playboy, which has brought her excitement and brushes with such celebrities as Pauly Shore. A reality TV show wants to talk to her, and Aerosmith's Steven Tyler invited Lynn to a concert.
If any of Cassandra's old schoolmates want to catch up with her - this means you, fellas - Lynn says she'll be signing autographs Feb. 18 at the Nugget Hotel & Casino in Wendover.
"Everything's gone so smoothly," she says of her new Playmate life-
style. "This is who I am and how I express myself."
I wish I knew how to quit you, LeVar: Is anybody happier about the Larry H. Miller/"Brokeback Mountain" flap than Allen Nevins and Nancy Borgenicht, co-writers of "Saturday's Voyeur," Salt Lake Acting Company's annual parody of Utah culture? Talk about some great material. I can see it onstage now: A secret love affair between two of the state's right-wing male lawmakers, with a dash of "intelligent design" mixed in, perhaps?
