Grade: C

Like most film soundtracks, this "Valentine's Day" compilation is a hodge-podge of songs both good (Jewel's "Stay Here Forever") and bad (Steel Magnolia's "Keep on Lovin' You"). But the real interest is Taylor Swift's new song "Today Was a Fairy Tale." Swift stars in the film, which has an ensemble cast including seemingly every singer-actor alive. Swift's song is a disappointment and is simply a rewrite of her much better "Love Song," with banal lines such as "You were the prince / I used to be a damsel in distress / You took me by the hand and you picked me up at six / Today was a fairy tale." This soundtrack is full of inoffensive songs promising an inoffensive movie for Valentine's Day weekend.
