Sundance » "Afghan Star" is an eye-opening documentary by British filmmaker Havana Marking about a generation of young Afghans trying to break into democracy through Afghanistan's own version of "American Idol." The movie follows three finalists in the war-weary country as they pursue similar dreams to those expressed in America's version. It's also a compelling lesson in freedom and about people hungry to embrace their own popular culture amid government and religious restrictions.
