If you remember the 1979 movie, you know how ABC's "Time After Time" begins — it's pretty much a remake. H.G. Wells (Freddie Stroma) builds a time machine and his pal, Dr. John Stevenson (Josh Bowman) — who, it turns out, is Jack the Ripper — uses it to escape to the present. Whether this premise will hold up on a weekly basis only time will tell.
