"Roxanne Roxanne," the story by writer-director Michael Larnell ("Cronies," SFF '15) based on hip-hop legend Roxanne Shanté (played by Chanté Adams), who went from hustling the streets at 14 to becoming the most feared battle emcee in the early-'80s New York rap scene, made its premiere Sunday, Jan. 22, at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival in Park City. The film also stars Mahershala Ali ("Moonlight") and Nia Long; part of the U.S. Dramatic competition.
