Several children acting in Pioneer Theatre Company's "Oliver!" brought holiday song and donations to the Utah Food Bank on Monday. The children performed a song from the musical for volunteers and staff, and also — in costume — pitched in to help sort the donations.

PTC is collecting donations for the Utah Food Bank from patrons throughout the run of Charles Dickens' "Oliver!" — about a fearless orphan in search of love and his next meal and forced into a life of pick-pocketing. PTC hopes to bring in 5,000 pounds of food during the 17-performance run through Dec. 17.

Patrons can drop off canned or boxed food or cash donations in the theater lobby before the performance they are attending. "We're happy to continue this tradition with Utah Food Bank," Chris Lino, managing director for PTC, said in a statement. "We have hundreds of patrons coming in every night, filled with holiday spirit, and Utah Food Bank is a wonderful partner to harness the spirit of Christmas giving."
