From violin solos amid the red rock to Latin jazz in a concert hall, here are some of the sights from the first weekend of the Moab Music Festival, with its 24th season running through Monday, Sept. 12, in locations in and around the scenic southern Utah town. American Masters: 20th and 21st Century Duos • Friday, Sept. 9, 7 p.m.; Star Hall; $25; $5 for youth

Music hikes • Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 10-11, 9 a.m.; $65 (the Saturday, Sept. 10, hike is sold out)

Renee Rosnes Quartet • Saturday, Sept. 10, 6 p.m.; Sorrel River Ranch; $30; $5 for youth

Closing night: Ars Longa, Vita Brevis • Sunday, Sept. 11, 7 p.m.; Star Hall; $25; $5 for youth
