Salt Lake City's Tuesday Harvest Market is moving to the Gallivan Center to create a more convenient shopping experience for downtown workers, organizers say.

The smaller, weekday market, which had previously been held at Pioneer Park, opens on Tuesday, Aug. 9, at 4 p.m. It will have 20 farmers, producers and packaged-food vendors, as well as food trucks, pickle ball and beer. It also will coincide with the Gallivan Center's "Big Band Dance Night" on the outdoor stage.

The market was moved to make it more convenient for workers in large office buildings along Main Street, including the Wells Fargo Building and Goldman Sachs, said Nicki Como, with the Downtown Alliance, which sponsored the Tuesday market and the Saturday market at Pioneer Park. "It's a pretty easy to walk out of Wells Fargo, 222 or 111 Main and grab a few bags full of fresh market products when the workday is complete."

Como said Pioneer Park also was just too large for the smaller, more intimate vibe of the Tuesday market.

"The Gallivan's space is more conducive to creating the type of experience we want, especially with the other activities already scheduled," he said. "It's just a better fit for our vendors and customers."
