Put on your bib and bring your appetite to this year's Days of '47 Komatsu Equipment Rodeo, where there will be a smoky new feature — ribs on the plaza.

Each night before the rodeo begins, some of Utah's top barbecue restaurants — including The Pork Kitchen, R&R Barbecue and Sean's Smokehouse — will sell ribs and sides.

Arrive early and enjoy the other Western-themed activities such as mutton busting, a petting zoo, pony and camel rides, mechanical bulls, roping demonstrations, live music and dancing.

"Ribs and Rodeo" is just one part of the Utah's annual Pioneer Day festivities, celebrating the Mormon pioneers' entry into the Salt Lake Valley.

When • Tuesday-Saturday, July 19-23, 4 to 7 p.m. Rodeo begins at 7 p.m.

Where • Vivint Arena, 301 W. South Temple, Salt Lake City.

Cost • Activities are free, but bring your wallet to enjoy barbecue.
