The number of restaurants that specialize in "super bowls" with healthy meats, grains and vegetables continues to expand with the recent opening of Mollie & Ollie on Main Street in downtown Salt Lake City.

The Mollie & Ollie menu includes breakfast bowls, with options such as oatmeal, fruit and yogurt and açai. There also are egg scrambles, salads and stir-fry options. Bowl prices range from $6 to $11. Smoothies, sides and desserts round out the menu.

It is the third fast-casual restaurant in Salt Lake City to specialize in the healthy bowls, a modern twist on the traditional Japanese rice bowl. Others are Pulp Lifestyle Kitchen on Gallivan Avenue and Zao Asian Cafe on 400 South.

Mollie & Ollie has a sleek modern design, where patrons order at a large touch-pad screen, which allows them to personalize their order with choice of proteins, grains (noodles, brown rice or quinoa) and various sauces, from curry to Southwest. Vegan and vegetarian options are available.

"We want people to feel that everything they eat with us is made their way, and this is a great way to offer that," said general manager Julie Paine, noting that the restaurant incorporates locally sourced meats from humane, environmentally conscious suppliers. Dine in or take orders to go.
