When Keifer and Shawna Thompson — better known as the award-winning duo Thompson Square or T2 — started in the country music business, they toured with superstars like Jason Aldean and Lady Antebellum.

These days, though, the married couple move at a slower pace.

"We really wanted to do our own thing," Keifer Thompson said of their summer concert schedule that is taking them to some low-key venues across the country, including Salt Lake City's Gallivan Center on Wednesday.

Blame it on the baby.

On Jan. 24, the duo became a trio with the birth of their first child, Rigney Cooper Thompson. The now-5-month-old "goes everywhere" with Mom and Dad, including the tour bus.

"We're a traveling family band," Thompson said during a recent telephone interview from the road. "It's really been a fun thing to go out and do this."

In the past month, Cooper also has become a video star. The couple took some of their home videos and paired them with their new single, "You Make It Look So Good." The video, which premiered May 19, gives fans an inside look into the family's home life.

Thompson said while they didn't write the lyrics, "they really fit us to a tee" with lines such as "I used to spend time with my friends talking, drinking wine. Love was never really high on my list. Baby, now you're showing me what I missed. Ooh, you make it look so good."

Since signing their first recording contract in 2011, Thompson Square has had two No. 1 hits — "Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not" and "If I Didn't Have You." — two Grammy Award nominations and two Vocal Duo of the Year awards (2012 and 2013) from the Academy of Country Music.

"You Make It Look So Good" will be the lead single on the third album, which is being produced by Nathan Chapman, the man responsible for Taylor Swift's "Fearless" album.

Chapman has helped the duo "stretch our wings a little," said Thompson. "It should be different than anything we've done before."

When the summer schedule is over, T2 expects to spend three to four months in the studio writing and recording more songs. Fans can expect the new album in early 2017. Of course, the couple plan to take their time and make it perfect, said Thompson. "We don't want to push it."
