Utah beer brewers and bars will celebrate American Craft Beer Week, May 16-22, rolling out the Biggest Small Beer Ever as well as educational classes and a pub crawl.

In its 11th year, Craft Beer Week celebrates the country's growing number of small and independent brewers and is sponsored by the National Brewers Association.

Here's a list of Utah events. Participants must be 21 or older to take part:

Biggest Small Beer Ever • Brewers from all 50 states, including Utah's Red Rock Brewery, have created the same beer using identical ingredients and recipe. Called the #BiggestSmallBeerEver, the dark brew is an Irish-style brown porter made with noble hops and a malty finish. In Utah, it will be available on tap May 16-22 at Red Rock pubs in Salt Lake, Murray and Park City. It also can be purchased in 32- or 64-ounce growlers for $4.25-$6.50 ($3 for the returnable bottle fee) at the Red Rock beer store, 443 N. 400 West, Salt Lake City. Because it is sold on tap, the beer — as required by Utah law — can be no higher than 4 percent alcohol by volume (or 3.2 by weight). That is slightly lower in alcohol than other brews that will likely be around the country, said marketing director Michael Druce.

Can Challenge • Take a blind taste test of four Wasatch & Squatters beers in bottles and cans. See if you can taste the difference in packaging. Monday at 6 p.m. at Squatters Pub Brewery, 147 W. 300 South, Salt Lake City. Cost is $25 per person. Register at squatters.com/events.

Beer 101 • Learn the basics of brewing and different beer styles in this two-hour class. It's offered at 6 p.m. on three dates: Wednesday at Wasatch Brew Pub, 2110 S. Highland Drive, Salt Lake City; Thursday, Squatters Pub Brewery, 147 W. 300 South, Salt Lake City; and Friday, May 20, at Wasatch Brew Pub in Park City. Tickets are $20 at wasatchbeers.com/events or squatters.com/events.

Patio Party • On Friday, May 20, Bohemian Brewery throws a patio party at Alleged, 201 25th St., Ogden. Meet the brewers, try small-batch seasonal beers and win swag. Starts at 8 p.m.

Pub Crawl • The second annual Sugar House Pub Crawl is Saturday, May 21, from noon to 5 p.m. Grab a passport and have it stamped at all 10 venues, then deliver it to Monument Plaza before 5 p.m. to be qualified for various prizes. Participating bars and restaurants: Campfire Lounge, The Tap Room, Fiddlers Elbow, Sugar House Pub, The Annex by Epic Brewing, Mellow Mushroom, Wasatch Brew Pub, The Bar in Sugarhouse, The RUIN and Trolley Wing Company. Post photos on social-media sites using the hashtag #iheartsugarhouse and #sugarhousepubcrawl for more prizes. Details at sugarhousechamber.org.

Class begins at 6 p.m. and costs $45 per person. Tickets available at wasatchbeers.com/events.aspx.
