A new season of "The Amazing Race" begins Friday (7 p.m., CBS/Ch. 2), and I wonder if the Powers That Be at CBS may have miscalculated. The 11 teams are made up of people who are famous (sort of) on social media … but not to most people.

In other words, they're people that most of the show's regular viewers aren't going to recognize at all. And it seems an extraordinarily iffy proposition that the people who do care about these folks are going to watch the "Race" to see them.

At any rate, the teams start racing from their homes this time and meet host Phil Keoghan in Mexico City.
