Utah brewers and liquor producers have been busy making new spirits for the holidays. Here's a few to try or buy for last minute gift-giving.

Furlong Imperial Stout • Red Rock Brewing Co. has been aging this brew in bourbon barrels for 12 months. It has notes of coffee and dark chocolate and is smooth, despite a hefty 10.2 percent alcohol by volume (ABV). Purchases are limited to six bottles per person; available at the Red Rock Beer Store, 443 N. 400 West, Salt Lake City.

Holiday Cutthroat Pale Ale • Uinta Brewing Co.'s flagship Cutthroat Pale Ale is enhanced with the holiday flavors of star anise, cinnamon and clove. It comes in new 22-ounce bottles and is available in most grocery and convenience stores.

Port O' Call Belgian Style Dark Ale • Also made by Uinta Brewing, this dark ale has been aged for six months in port wine barrels imported from Portugal. With a dark copper color and a creamy head, it has toffee and caramel malt notes with hints of clove and banana. It is 9.4 percent ABV and comes in 750-ml cork and caged bottles.

Ruby Hard Cider • Mountain West Hard Cider, Salt Lake City's first hard cider facility, opened recently with this inaugural offering. Cider maker Joel Goodwillie, of Wind River Cellars in Washington state, used apple juice from Santaquin to make this crisp drink with 6.8 percent ABV. Named after Ruby Canyon along the Utah and Colorado border, it is available at Mountain West's manufacturing facility and package store, 425 N. 400 West, Salt Lake City.

Silver Star Cafe Private Label wines • Silver Star CafĂ© in Park City recently introduced two private label wines made by Doug McCombs, the winemaker at IG Winery in Cedar City. The first is a 2014 dry riesling with grapes sourced from Oregon's Rogue Valley. It is crisp and dry, with flavors of grapefruit, lemon, apricot, tart apple and a hint of eucalyptus. It sells for $35 a bottle or $7.50 per glass. The second offering is a red wine made from 100 percent tempranillo grown in Paso Robles, Calif. It has a rich burgundy color, with flavors of butter, dark red berries, cassis, mint, a touch of leather, oak and cedar. It costs $49 a bottle or $11 a glass. The labels for both bottles were inspired by original paintings from a Salt Lake City-based artist Stacy Phillips. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Arts Kids, a nonprofit after-school program that uses expressive arts programs to teach positive life skills and creativity. Available at the Silver Star Cafe, 1825 Three Kings Drive, Park City.

Sugar House Distillery Bourbon Whiskey • First it was vodka, then single-malt whiskey; now Sugar House Distillery has created a bourbon whiskey made from mostly corn. It has a golden copper color with a medium body and undertones of vanilla, caramel and light oak. "It is rich, smooth and lush," says owner James Fowler, adding that it's a true "grain to glass" Utah product that is fermented, distilled, barreled and bottled all at the distillery, 2212 S. West Temple, #14, South Salt Lake. A 750-ml bottle sells for $39.99. Open Monday-Saturday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

UT-X • It's short for Utah Experimental, a new specialty series of beers produced by Squatters and Wasatch Breweries. The new series will follow a base recipe, but each month brewers will use a new variety of hops. The first batch, which is 4 percent ABV, already is available on tap at the Squatters and Wasatch pubs in Salt Lake City and Park City. The unfiltered beer was brewed with Calypso Hops and is light in color with a sweet pear and citrus flavor. It also may be purchased in a growler at The Beer Store, 1763 S. 300 West, Salt Lake City.
