Here are 9 ways that grown-ups can celebrate Salt Lake City’s EVE

Salt Lake City's annual EVE Winterfest includes plenty of indoor activities at the Salt Palace Convention Center for young children, including hula hoops, beach balls, sing-alongs and a new Brick Yard, where kids can build with LEGO bricks.

But the three-day New Year's Eve celebration, which runs Monday-Wednesday, offers something to entertain tweens, teens and grown-ups, too.

Here are nine things for those older sets that an EVE ticket will provide:

Comedy • Laughing Stock, the improv troupe from Off Broadway Theatre, performs family-friendly shows all three days of the festival at its theater, 272 S. Main St.

High-point beer • Wine and beer always have been available in the Salt Palace, EVE's home base. New this year is Squatters Hop Rising Lounge, where guests 21 and older can get high-point beer —greater than 4 percent alcohol by volume.

Music and dance • The WinterFest stage inside the Salt Palace is the place for live music and dance. The festival's featured act, Utah County alt-rockers Fictionist, performs Wednesday along with Westward The Tide. Additionally, Afro-Brazilian troupe Samba Fogo and Zivio Ethnic Arts Ensemble will offer performances all three nights. The Ski City DJ tower, outside on the southeast corner of the Salt Palace, offers fresh beats all three nights of EVE. It's also where you need to be at midnight Wednesday to see the new MirrorBall ascend into the night sky, accompanied by a light show.

Professional basketball • On Tuesday, your EVE ticket will get you a lower-bowl seat at the Utah Jazz vs. Minnesota Timberwolves game. Learn how to get your ticket at eveslc.com.

SecretEVE • The secretEVE stroll is an urban art scavenger hunt. Fifteen artists have placed large and small art installations between Gallivan Center and the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art — Main Street, 100 South and West Temple. Look for the secretEVE icon on the sidewalk (a blue triangle inside a yellow circle with the hashtag #secretEve), then look around to find the hidden art.

Each time you find and share photos of the art installation (not the sticker on the sidewalk!) on Instagram and use the hashtag #secretEVE, you will be entered for a chance to win prizes. Also, be sure to stop inside UMOCA for games of chance, artist-inspired karaoke and, of course, contemporary art.

Science • An EVE pass covers general admission to The Leonardo museum during the festival. It also gets you $5 off admission to "Body Worlds & The Cycle of Life" for adults, children, youth and seniors.

Silent movies • The Salt Lake Film Society will show America's greatest silent films throughout the festival at the Broadway Centre Cinemas, 111 E. 300 South.

Theater • Utah Children's Theatre presents Shakespeare for Kids and Adults with Short Attention Spans on the WinterFest stage inside the Salt Palace.

VIP Experience • Those 21 and older can enjoy the Hops and Spirits VIP Experience on Wednesday: appetizers, Utah-made beer and spirits, and DJs from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. at UMOCA. Tickets are $100 and include a three-day EVE WinterFest pass, access to the "Body Worlds" exhibit at The Leonardo and ice skating at Gallivan Center.
