On the traditional side are the fishing derby for children 16 and younger at the Clinton City Pond, a dutch oven dinner, free concerts, a parade, a carnival and an antique car show.
The Dutch oven dinner and car show will be held July 10. Dinner is $5 per person or $25 for a family of up to eight people. The meal includes Dutch oven ribs, corn on the cob, salad, rolls and cobbler.
According to Lee Ann Powell, Clinton's recreation director, these activities have been staples for the more than 18 years she's been employed by the city.
"Then we've also got the Sherman Wayment 5K," she said. "That run celebrates one of the greatest contributors to the city of Clinton. It sounds like it's a more contemporary event, but it feels like it's been going on forever."
Newer activities include 3-on-3 basketball, a golf tournament and contemporary themes at the parade and carnival.
The golf tournament, held at Schneiter's Bluff Golf, 300 N. 3500 West, Clinton, is $50 per person and includes 18 holes of golf with a cart, a continental breakfast, lunch and opportunities for many prizes.
"However, one of the highlights of the festival is the concert series," Powell said.
Featured talent includes the '60s and '70s rock revival group, Outrageous; hypnotist Shawn Poulsen; classic rock by Off the Wall; Jamie Leigh and Backstage with their country/rock sound and the rock style of Jerry Town.
Clinton resident Tiffany Huggard has her own favorite event.
"Well, we like so much," Huggard said. "But I know the fireworks are our favorite. Aren't they everyone's favorite?"
