The Davis Chamber of Commerce recognized several local businesses during its 2009 business awards ceremony last weekend.

Mandarin Restaurant in Bountiful won "Business of the Year." The 30-year-old eatery is a mainstay and continues to draw new customers.

Applegate HomeCare & Hospice received the "Innovation Award" for using new software to improve communication in patient care.

NorthFront Business Resource Center was selected as the "New Business of the Year." Located in Kaysville, it provides businesses with counseling, training, assistance with applying for government contracts, and sometimes funding.

Bountiful's Lakeview Hospital was recognized as the "Employer of the Year." The company has nearly 600 staffers, seeks workers' input and ownership in their positions, and reduced employee turnover by two-thirds in three years.

The "Green Award" was given to the family-owned Your Valet Fine Dry Cleaning. It uses environmentally-friendly means to dry clean at its many locations throughout the county.

The Davis Chamber previously announced giving the "Chamber Advocate Award" to Hometown Values' Julie Batchelor and the "Legacy Award" to Davis Hospital and Medical Center.
