Interested in joining the Davis School District Board of Education? You have two weeks to apply.

The board is looking to fill a vacancy and announced Wednesday that is will accept applications through Dec. 2. To be eligible, you must be a registered voter in Precinct 6, which spans parts of Hill Air Force Base, Layton, Syracuse and Clearfield.

The board will identify a pool of candidates for further consideration and interview them at a public meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 15. After deliberating privately, the board is expected to name a winner that same day.

Whoever is appointed will take the oath of office on Jan. 5 and fill the seat of Cheryl Werven, who resigned for personal reasons. The appointment will last

Board members are paid a small stipend and are eligible for health insurance benefits.

Interested applicants should fill out a Declaration of Candidacy -- available on the district's Web site -- and have it signed by a notary public. They may also include a resume, three references and three letters of recommendation. Materials should be sent to Carolyn Roberts, administrative assistant to the Board of Education, 45 E.
