Interested in joining the Davis School District Board of Education? You have two weeks to apply.

The board is looking to fill a vacancy and announced Wednesday that is will accept applications through Dec. 2. To be eligible, you must be a registered voter in Precinct 6, which spans parts of Hill Air Force Base, Layton, Syracuse and Clearfield.

The board will identify a pool of candidates for further consideration and interview them at a public meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 15. After deliberating privately, the board is expected to name a winner that same day.

Whoever is appointed will take the oath of office on Jan. 5 and fill the seat of Cheryl Werven, who resigned for personal reasons. The appointment will last through the end of Werven's term in January 2011.

Board members are paid a small stipend and are eligible for health insurance benefits.

Interested applicants should fill out a Declaration of Candidacy -- available on the district's Web site -- and have it signed by a notary public. They may also include a resume, three references and three letters of recommendation. Materials should be sent to Carolyn Roberts, administrative assistant to the Board of Education, 45 E. State St., PO Box 588, Farmington, UT 84025-0588.
